Assignment 2 - Finish Research for 2nd Artist Research Presentation

This is a continuation of Assignment c06_a3 from last week. Please prepare for your second research presentation. We will spend the morning on Monday listening to your presentations. This time I will be evaluating the presentations on almost the same criteria as last time. 1-4 are the same but#5 is new.

1. overall clarity of presentation
2. quality of research and diversity of sources
3. quality of critical discussion of the artist's process
4. quality of critical discussion of the artist's aesthetic
5. quality of critical discussion of what you have found written about said work and artist

Assignment 3 - Impossible Image Rough Drafts

Please prepare 8-10 images (presented as jpegs) in response to the impossible image assignment. These are not finished work, but are rather an attempt to develop one's skills and more importantly develop a theme or overall concept and strategy for the assignment. The goal next week will be to refine your ideas and images into a coherent finished set of images. For this assignment it is ok to partially discover one's intentions and thematic direction through the experimentation of making. That is why I am assigning the Development of Intention Summary (usually Statement of Intent) after doing the physical work.

Assignment 4 - Impossible Image Development of Intention Summary

Please write a paragraph outlining your intention as you started this project. Then detail how that intention has changed as you have worked your way into the project. Have you discovered a clear thematic purpose or strategy? What is it? This summary can be fairly informal. Please post your paragraph to your class blog.

Assignment 5 - Words and Image Development

Your next assignment deals with the interplay between words, letter forms, and images. In order to find conceptual grounding for this project I ask that you think about what words or short phrases might be important to each of the clients you mentioned in your Client Profiles Assignment (c03_a3). For each of the three clients make a list of at least ten words or phrases, which speak to the heart of the organization's mission, goals, and or products and services. Post all three lists to your blog. Be sure to begin each list with a heading which names the client.
