Class 12 Homework Summary

Assignment 1: Text and Image Project Print(s)
Due: Monday, November 30th
Please print a minimun of one of your finished resolved Text and Image Project prints. If possible print all 6-10 of your images (3-5 images for two different clients). If you are having trouble with getting the print quality you desire we will try to address this in class (if this it the case fore you, come prepared with more paper to print on).

Assignment 2: Icon Family 2nd Draft
Due: Monday, November 30th
Please construct a family of 5 512px by 512px icons. At this stage these images can be multi-layer Photoshop files (.psd). The final draft of these will be due on December 7th. Consider using some or all of the following strategies when creating your icons:

• use high value contrast
• use high color contrast
• use a limited color palette; try to optimize for good recognition on both black and white backgrounds; some type of outlining can aid in this matter
  
• maximize the footprint area of the image
• use the outer edge or overall shape of the image to help identify the icon; use transparency to allow visual recognition of overall shape on different colored backgrounds.
• build in detail that degrades gracefully as the icon gets smaller
  
• consider volumetric enhancement through use of drop shadows and such
• make test icon versions using img2icns to test the functionality and aesthetic integrity of your icons as you go.

Assignment 3: Final Project Research and Experimentation
Due: Monday, November 30th
Start researching for your final artist presentations and use this research to help you play with ideas of process that might apply well to your final project. Then start doing some real experimentation with the processes you think you might use for the final project. Come ready to talk about your ideas and your experiments. If you are able to show test work or pieces and parts of work it will help us as a class guide and help you.

Assignment 4: Experimental Scan Compositions
Due: Monday, November 30th
Prepare two compositions based on your experimental scanning exercise. Bring in you two completed compositions in .psd format.
