Assignment 2 - Reading
Required:
Read chapters 1 and 3 in the Layers book by Koslowski. It would be wise to do the exercises if you are unfamiliar with the topics.
Recommended:
Lessons 2 and 3 in McLeland's PS CS3 One-On-One book. Again the exercises drive home the point.

Assignment 3 - Client Profiles
Write a short profile of three organizations you would hypothetically like to work for or make visual work for. One should be a for-profit corporation, one should be a non-profit organization, and one should be a small business. The profiles should contain a description of the organization/business’s core activity/product/service, a description of the organizational mission, and a description of the audience or market the organization is trying to reach/communicate with/sell to. Each profile should be ½ to 1 page. Email the finished profiles to dm240@mca.edu in a single file named c02_profiles_lastnamef.ext by the beginning of class AND post the copy to your blogs.

Assignment 4 - Artist Research Presentation
Continue your research from last classes assignment. Be prepared to present 6-15 images of the artists work while you speak. Your presentation will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- clarity of presentation
- quality of research and diversity of sources
- quality of discussion of the artist's process
- quality of discussion of the artist's aesthetic
Please be sure to hand in before your presentation a typed list of sources. You are expected to cite a minimum of three sources.

Assignment 5 - Whole Image Processing
Using only image adjustments and or adjustment layers fix and or improve 20 images as much as possible. The first 10 images you work on should come from you group of poorly shot imagery (taken in class last time). This first group is all about fixing what is broken.The second set of ten images could come from your image archive or from other images you have kicking around. The second group is all about subtle improvements to a basically sound image. Please focus on experimenting with the following images adjustments:
- Levels
- Curves
- Hue/Saturation
- Color Balance
- Brightness/Contrast
- Shadows/Highlights
- Exposure
- Variations
- Black & White

I'm a little lost about how this in-class presentation of our digital artist is supposed to go. Should we have our images of the artist set up in a slide show to project on the big screen? Well, I guess that's my main concern.
For my artist presentation I'm researching Pascal Dombis -- I'm just curious who everyone else is looking at.
I was wondering about that too.
This is from email Zark sent me about artist presentation:
'If you save images you want to show us a jpegs, you will be all set. Put all your images in on folder and we can put them up on the server. That way you can show your images from the teaching station at the front of the class. We will use the little preview feature to show your images. I'll show you on Monday.'
